Songs of Ron Bell

Lyrics are my passion. You just can't have a good song without decent 'words'!

Nine times out of ten the lyrics come first. I have books and files full of them. If I write a guitar riff or chord structure, I can usually go through the archives and find something to fit, but sometimes it all happens together. I tend to work very fast, a few hours doodling and I've sorted it all out. Then I play and sing it hundreds of times to lock it in to my brain. Then, when I'm happy I write down the final draft of lyrics and guitar chords. I always have a pen and notepad to hand to try to ensure those random thoughts are captured and then I can work them into a song at some stage.

The first album Cole and I worked on we called 'Verbatim'. The songs are listed below. Click to read the lyrics and download the tracks.

My second album is a work in progress which. I'm recording it in my own Broken Light studio on my KorgD1600. I've called it 'Human Songs' as many of the songs are about people and tell the stories of their lives.

Verbatim

Peter Caragiulo The man from Galilee
Do not stand at my grave and weep
The packets are getting smaller and the price is getting higher
Colder in the mornings In the bleak mid-winter
Jesse Garon Burning my guitars
There's no such place as Russia (I know I'm) Dreamin'
All dark now
The songs were produced by Cole Hart at Shebeen Studios, Colne, Lancashire.

Human Songs

Some of the songs are finished for the new album. More are on their way!

Back from the dead

When the night becomes the dawn
Hurt that never heals
Wedding dress of gold
